Welcome to the Center for Neurocognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation (CNAR). We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of adults and school-aged children with known or suspected neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, epilepsy, learning disabilities, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. These and other conditions can affect a person's memory, attention, problem solving, and other cognitive abilities. Using a variety of standardized tests, we measure your performance in these areas to determine your strengths and weaknesses. You or your physician might request a neuropsychological evaluation for a number of reasons. Perhaps you are seeking recommendations for improving your child’s performance at school or perhaps you are looking for strategies for coping with memory problems. Your physician might refer you for a neuropsychological evaluation to help clarify a diagnosis. For example, we might be asked to determine whether a patient’s memory problems are due to normal aging or whether these problems represent early signs of dementia. Regardless of the reason for referral, we strive to identify each individual’s particular strengths as well as their weaknesses. This information can then be used to make recommendations for improving functioning at work, school, and home.
